Lobby your MP
The most effective way to get parliament to listen to you is to tell them what you want. One way you can do this is through your elected representative in government.
Your MP is there to represent you in the House of Commons and can put forward a new amendment to the Act and vote on the wish of constituents. The more pressure that is put on MPs to insist on Repeal, the sooner the government will have to act.
So, it's ALWAYS worth lobbying. You can...
- Write a letter. Download the letter as a Word document or, much better still, draft your own. Post it to your MP (find MP details on www.faxyourmp.com) at House of Commons, Westminster, London SW1A 0AA
- Send a fax online. Go to www.faxyourmp.com and paste in the letter here or, much better still, draft your own.
- Sign the petition on this page.
- Attend or organise a presence outside the Houses of Parliament to keep up the profile of the campaign and get the government's attention to this issue. Take banners, inform the media.
- Go to your MP's local surgery and ask her / him to represent your views on this issue in Parliament.
If you get a reply - please send / email GHT a copy - this helps us keep a track of which MPs are supportive.Thank you!
